Kids Book Swap

From February 24th-27th students are encouraged to bring 1, 2 or 3 gently used books that you are willing to part with and think a classmate in your grade would enjoy! Maybe it is a book that has already been read and is ready for a new home or perhaps it’s one you picked up from a Little Free Library around town. For students in the French program, we encourage you to swap a French book that you are ready to pass along to another reader.

Books will be collected in classes, then organized and distributed on Friday, February 28 as our mobile book swap cart visits each classroom. Every student will select a new book to bring home with them, regardless of whether or not they donated a book.

School Committee joint meeting with Select Board on FY26 Budget

Tuesday, February 11th at 7:00 PM – The School Committee will hold a joint meeting with the Select Board to discuss the FY26 budget. Attend in person at the Milton Council on Aging (10 Walnut Street), join virtually, or watch on Milton Access TV’s YouTube page.

It is very important that our Select Board understands how important our children's education is to us.

Take Action – Your Voice Matters!

A strong parent turnout will send a clear message that our families are engaged and demand solutions that protect our children’s education. Without strong involvement, these cuts will proceed.

Please share this message with other Tucker families. The more parents understand what’s at stake, the stronger our collective response will be.

Our children’s education depends on immediate action. Let’s show up, stay informed, and make our voices heard.

  • Google Calendar ICS

This coming Monday, February 10th at 5:00 PM, members of the School Committee and MPS Central Office will host a critical forum on the school budget at Milton High School’s Milton Access TV Studio (Room 245). The decisions being discussed will directly impact our children’s education. This is your opportunity to learn more and ask questions.

Where: Milton High School, Milton Access TV Studio, Room 245

When: Monday, February 10th at 5:00 PM

Childcare: Limited babysitting available for up to 20 children. Sign up here.

Why This Matters:

Without a $9.5 million override to maintain a level-funded budget, our district will face:

  •  Widespread layoffs

  •  Larger class sizes

  •  Unmet individual student needs

Why It is Important to Be There:

At this forum, you will learn about:

  •  The current budget situation

  •  Projected cuts and their direct impact on students

  •  What the override means for your child’s education and school experience

The UNITY Project is a 2024 parent collaboration across Milton's PTOs to revitalize and streamline the previous Reading About Diversity/RAD (2010) and Meet the Artist/MTA (2015) programs. It combines both curricula and expands the program to Pre-K through 5th grades with additional books and artists. The Program invites parents and guardians into the classroom to teach a quick lesson (approximately 45 minutes) with just a little bit of prep work. Please explore the UNITY Project website or more info about the provided lessons, materials, and how to volunteer.

We will be holding our first info session for the UNITY project on Monday, October 7th at 8:00pm via zoom and all are welcome to join!
